Despite the name, Himalayan Salt is actually commonly from the Punjab region of Pakistan! This famous Pakistan salt mine deposit is thought to have been discovered back in 326 BC by Alexander the Great, but the first recorded mining from of this deposit is from the Janjua people in the 1200's. The color of Himalayan Salt ranges from an off-white or transparent to pink, red, and even a deep beet-red color.
