Agate is a cryptocrystalline variety of silica, made up of mostly chalcedony. It has a very fine grain, and often has a banded appearance. It was named by a Greek philosopher, who discovered it in what is now Sicily. Banded Agate gets its name from the distinct banding patterns found in this variety of Agate.

These Agate beads have a darker color about them while still showing the beautiful oranges and browns. Each bead is unique holding different inclusions and colors. Quite a lovely little bead!
