Basic Information

Fluorite is the mineral form of calcium fluoride and it belongs to the halide minerals. The pure form of Fluorite is transparent, both in natural and ultraviolet light. It’s impurities are what makes it the blue, green, or purple colours that it is frequently found in. Fluorite also fluoresces under an ultraviolet light. It is the defining mineral for 4 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness. The word “fluorescence” takes its origin from this property of Fluorite

Fluorite is said to be a highly protective and stabilizing stone. It is useful to ground and harmonize spiritual energies. It is also used when working with the upper Chakras. History

Fluorite was originally termed Fluorspar in 1530. It was noted for its usefulness as a flux for smelting. In 1852, Fluorite gave its name to ‘Fluorescence”. Currently, Fluorspar is used in industrial and chemical settings, and Fluorite mineralogically and in most other senses.
