Amethyst is a purple variety of the Quartz family of crystals. It is a semiprecious stone, and the birthstone for February. It sits at a 7 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness, and is likely the single most recognized gemstone on the planet.

Rose Quartz is a pale pink to rose red variety of the Quartz family of crystals. The color is considered to be cause by trace amounts of titanium, iron, or manganese in the massive material. The Rose Quartz color is photosensitive and subject to fading if left in the sun, Quartz sits at a 7 on the Mohs Scale and takes to a great polish.

Amethyst is thought to be an extremely powerful and protective stone with a high spiritual vibration.
