Emerald is a gemstone colored green by chromium and occasionally vanadium. Emerald (being a variety of beryl) is a 7.5-8 on the Mohs Scale.

Emerald is the traditional birthstone for May and is called the "Stone of Successful Love" because it is said to open and nurture the heart; it makes sense that it's associated with the Heart Chakra! Mica is shiny silicate mineral with a layered structure often found in other minerals, but occasionally on its own. It sits at just a 2 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness, making it one of the softest minerals on the planet. Mica is used in many of the things you see every day, including eye makeup.
