Silver Cove is back in Prince George this September, and this year we're bringing an absolutely incredible selection of crystals, minerals, fossils, gemstones, jewelry and treasures with us.
But before the doors open and the treasure hunting begins, there's a whole other side of the Rock N’ Gem Show that most visitors never get to see:

🚛 Bringing the Rock N’ Gem Show to Prince George
When you walk into a finished CanGems show, it's easy to forget that just a short time earlier, the venue looked completely different.
Behind the scenes, our Silver Cove road crew is busy unloading, unpacking and transforming the space into the gem show you'll experience all weekend.
And we're not bringing just a few boxes.
Silver Cove travels across Canada with an enormous collection of treasures — everything from small polished stones and gemstone jewelry to fossils, carvings, spheres, towers, beads, rough specimens and impressive collector pieces.
Then our guest vendors arrive and begin setting up their own booths, each bringing their own specialties and unique finds to the show.
By the time those doors open Friday morning, the transformation is pretty incredi
ble.
💎 Thousands of Treasures, All in One Place
Prince George is in for something special this year.
Throughout the show, visitors will be able to explore crystals, minerals, fossils, gemstones, handcrafted jewelry, beads, carvings, lapidary supplies and unique treasures from Silver Cove and vendors travelling from across Canada.
One table might introduce you to a mineral you've never seen before. Around the corner, you could find a fossil millions of years old. A few steps later, you might discover a beautiful piece of jewelry, an unusual carving or the perfect specimen to add to your collection.
That's one of our favourite things about a Rock N’ Gem Show:

📦 What Does It Take to Set Up a Gem Show?

But seriously, there's a huge amount of work that happens before our first visitor ever walks through the doors.
Products have to travel to Prince George, pallets have to be unloaded, tables need to be arranged, thousands of pieces need to be unpacked and displayed, signs go up, vendors prepare their booths and all those little finishing touches have to come together.
It's a team effort from beginning to end.
For our road crew, seeing an empty venue slowly turn into a colourful marketplace filled with crystals, minerals and fossils is one of the most satisfying parts of the journey.
And then we get to open the doors and share it with you.
❤️ Why We Love Taking Silver Cove on the Road
Silver Cove is based in Alberta, but the road has become a pretty important part of who we are.
Through CanGems, we're able to bring the world of rocks, minerals, fossils and gemstones directly to communities across Canada. The shows give collectors and rockhounds a place to explore, but they're also an opportunity for people who know absolutely nothing about rocks to come in and discover something new.
Kids can see fossils up close.
New collectors can ask questions.
Experienced rockhounds can hunt for something unusual.
Families can spend the afternoon exploring together.
And somewhere along the way, someone usually discovers their very first favourite rock.
That's pretty cool.
🌈 Stay Late Friday for Our UV Exclusive Event
The fun doesn't end when the regular show closes Friday night.
On Friday, September 11 from 8:00 PM–10:00 PM, we're hosting our special UV Exclusive Event, where visitors can experience fluorescent minerals under ultraviolet light.
Some minerals that appear relatively ordinary in regular lighting can reveal brilliant colours when exposed to UV light, making this both an incredible visual experience and a fascinating look at mineral science.
