Have you ever walked into a Rock N’ Gem Show and wondered what it looked like just a day or two earlier?
Before the crystals sparkle under the lights, before the fossils are lined up for exploring and before the first treasure hunter walks through the doors, there’s a whole lot happening behind the scenes.
This October, Silver Cove is rolling into Saskatoon for the 2026 Saskatoon Rock N’ Gem Show, and our road crew will once again be transforming Prairieland Park into a weekend filled with crystals, minerals, fossils, gemstones, jewelry and thousands of treasures waiting to be discovered.
Here’s a little look at what it takes to bring the show to life.
First Stop: Getting Everything to Saskatoon
A CanGems show doesn't simply appear overnight — although sometimes it probably looks that way!
Silver Cove travels across Canada throughout the show season, moving an enormous selection of products from one community to the next.
That means packing and transporting boxes, displays, equipment and countless pieces of inventory before everything can begin again in a brand-new city.
By the time we arrive in Saskatoon, our crew is ready to unload and get to work.
From Boxes and Pallets to a Rock N’ Gem Show
Setup is when everything starts coming together.
Tables are arranged, boxes are opened and thousands of pieces begin finding their places.
Crystals. Minerals. Fossils. Gemstones. Jewelry. Beads. Carvings. Rough stone. Polished pieces. Lapidary supplies. Collector specimens. Home décor.
Little by little, what started as boxes and pallets becomes the colourful Rock N’ Gem Show visitors will explore throughout the weekend.
Meanwhile, our guest vendors arrive and begin creating their own booths, bringing even more variety and unique finds to the show.
It's busy. It's physical. It's sometimes a little chaotic.
And we love watching it all come together.
So Much to Discover in Saskatoon
Once setup is complete, the real fun begins.
For four days, visitors can wander through the Saskatoon Rock N’ Gem Show and explore an incredible variety of treasures from Silver Cove and vendors from across Canada.
You might discover a crystal you've never seen before, examine an ancient fossil, find a beautiful piece of jewelry or stumble across a mineral specimen that immediately needs to come home with you.
Experienced collectors can hunt for something special while brand-new rockhounds can simply explore, ask questions and see what catches their attention.
And kids?
Give them enough rocks to look at and you may leave with a future geologist.
That's one of our favourite things about taking Silver Cove on the road. These shows aren't only places to shop — they're places to explore, learn and get curious about the natural world.
Every Show Is a Little Different
Even though our crew does this week after week during show season, no two setups are exactly alike.
Different venues mean different spaces. Different vendors bring different treasures. New inventory makes its way onto the tables. And every community brings its own energy once the doors open.
That's why returning to a CanGems show doesn't necessarily mean seeing the same things you saw last time.
There's always another box being unpacked.
Another specimen arriving.
Another vendor to explore.
And another treasure you didn't know you were looking for.
There's Even More to See Friday Night
Saskatoon also gets to experience our UV Exclusive Event on Friday, October 2 from 8:00 PM–10:00 PM.
After the regular show hours end, visitors can experience fluorescent minerals under ultraviolet light and discover colours and characteristics that aren't always visible under ordinary lighting.
It's part science, part geology and a whole lot of glow. ✨
The UV Exclusive is an educational and interactive way to experience minerals from an entirely different perspective. RSVP is recommended by texting 587-377-5722, and walk-ins are welcome.
Why We Keep Doing It
There are a lot of kilometres between shows.
There are a lot of boxes.
And there are definitely a lot of minerals
But when setup is finally finished and we look around at everything that's been created inside the venue, it's pretty rewarding.
Then the doors open.
Families arrive. Collectors start searching. Kids start asking questions. People reconnect with vendors they've met at previous shows, and others experience a Rock N’ Gem Show for the very first time.
That's when all the lifting, packing, travelling and unpacking becomes worth it.
And then, a few days later?
We pack it all up and head to the next city.
