Selenite is a variety of the mineral, Gypsum. It is composed of Calcium Sulphate Dihydrate. The name Selenite comes from the Greek word for 'moon'. All varieties of Gypsum are very soft minerals and have a Mohs Hardness of only 2!

This awesomely carved sqirrel is a great polished Selenite specimen. The peachy orange color compliments the curves of the carvings, and the critter of tribute. This USSR era hand carving will be at home on any shelf or desk for display, and is a great addition to any collection.

Selenite is thought to bring clarity to the mind, shields a person from outside influences, and dispels negative energy. Selenite alongside Black Tourmaline is often used in gridding a home, space, or property.
