The official definition of the stone "Turquenite" that has been used since the 1970's in the mineral trade is an artificially colored blue variety of Magnesite (or Howlite) that was commonly sold as Turquoise. Magnesite is a mineral with the chemical formula of Magnesium Carbonate, it possesses a layered structure with monolayers of magnesium alternating with monolayers of carbonate groups.

These Turquenite pieces in particular are a dyed Magnesite that have a vivid aqua to sky blue coloring throughout each piece. The dye process has brought out the incredible natural patterns that can be found in Magnesite, and these individual pieces would be popular with any young rock collectors in the family! Turquenite may fade if left in the sun for extended periods of time.

It is believed that Magnesite is a powerful aid in visualization during meditation, helps in the development of psychic clarity, and imagination.
