Siderite is a member of the Calcite group and was originally named in 1845! It sits at a 3.5-4.5 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness and has a trigonal crystal structure. Siderite often has a brown coloration.
Augelite is an aluminum phosphate mineral with a monoclinic crystal structure. It was name in 1868, and sits at a 4.5- 5 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness. Its color varies from colorless to white to pink to blue.
This is a fantastic little specimen that has both Siderite and clear Augelite occurring within the specimen. The Siderite covers most of the specimen, while the Augelite has formed in the centre of the specimen, nicely shielded by the Siderite.
