Pyrolusite is a black to very dark grey Manganese mineral in the Rutile group that is usually found in matte-black powdery-to-fibrous crusts that are sometimes found in botryoidal aggregates, and more rarely found as druzes of small prismatic to tabular dark grey metalic crystals. The hardness varies from only a 2, to a harder 6.5.
This particular Pyrolusite specimen is part of a special collection hand-picked by Silver Cove out of Morocco. This Pyrolusite has a dynamic world of texture created by the different kinds of formations on the face of this piece. The graphite grey to metalic silver are prominent, and there are even some small cluster-like crystals throughout as well.
Pyrolusite has been widely described as a stone of transformation, but it is also connected with confidence, and clearing auras. Something interesting about Pyrolusite is that it is thought to have the ability to transform or restructure energies depending on intention.
