Gormanite is a relatively new mineral only around since 1977. This mineral was named after Donald Herbert Gorman a professor at the University of Toronto. Gormanite is classified as a phosphate mineral which can be found in iron phosphate nodules and has a hardness of 4-5 on the Mohs scale. The first occurance of this mineral was was at Big Fish and Rapid Creek in the Dawson mining district in the Yukon Territories. 

This Gormanite specimen came from the Yukon and is nice chunk. The top portion of this rock is the Gormanite with its stunning green flash and unique crystal formations almost like a fan. Upon close inspection you can see the rusty color of iron strewn throughout the deep green. This piece is a true collectors piece. This stuff is hard to come by!

There is not a lot known about Gormanite as far as metaphysical properties go. It is seen as a healing mineral to the heart chakra with the lovely green of the crystals. This is also known to be super empowering to your inner well bringing about stability and peace keeping you grounded. Gormanite is believed by many to bring about a calming and centering energy.
