Citrine is a Yellow variety of the Quartz family of crystals. It sits at a 7 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness and takes a great polish.
Most commonly recognized Citrine on the market is usually heat treated to obtain the vibrant color. It is a common practice for the industry, in polished stones, jewelry, and specimens. The heat treated stones are chemically identical to natural citrine, and cannot be differentiated with modern testing. Through experience, we have learned that natural Citrine is usually a smoky yellow color, not the vibrant color we recognize today.
Metaphysical: Citrine has long been associated with the sun, and is thought to encourage a sunny disposition. It is thought to attract creativity prosperity, positivity, and good health. It is often a stone recommended to lift moods, encourage positive thinking, and bring abundance.
