Bumblebee Jasper is actually not a Jasper at all since it contains no Quartz! Bumblebee Jasper is actually the trade name for a radially grown fibrous calcite found in Indonesia that has distinctive yellow, orange, and black banding. The yellow and orange coloring comes from finely dispersed realgar, and the black is caused by pyrite.
This is one spectacularly unique piece! The bright yellow/orange is predominant against the additional toned-down light brown, and has great contrast with the black banding near the top portion. A great stone for collectors, the pictures don't do justice to the exceptional coloring on this Bumblebee Jasper stone.
