Bumblebee Jasper is the trade name for a radially grown fibrous calcite found in Indonesia that has distinctive yellow, orange, and black banding. The yellow and orange coloring comes from finely dispersed realgar (an arsenic sulfide mineral), and the black is caused by pyrite. Bumblebee Jasper is actually not a Jasper at all as it contains no Quartz.
This polished Bumblebee Jasper specimen is a tall, stable, and vibrant piece. Portions of this piece are a bright, eye-catching yellow/orange, while other portions are a toned down grey with hints of black throughout. This would be excellent on a desk, or as a display piece on a bookshelf!
