Azurite is an Azure to dark blue secondary copper mineral that is frequently pseudomorphed to, (and found with), Malachite. Azurite is in the monoclinic crystal system, and has a Mohs hardness of around 3.5 to 4. Ground Azurite is used as a pigment because of it's vibrant color. Malachite is a copper carbonate hydroxide mineral frequently found pseudomorphed with Azurite.

This Azurite and Malachite specimen has a large portion of Malachite visible on the one side. The Malachite has a serene green coloring, which adds a great contrast to the vibrant Azurite blue on the other side of this specimen. The matrix is a neutral tan color, this helps tone down the vibrant mineral colors that are seen in this piece.

Azurite is widely thought to help aid intuitive development and enlightenment by stimulating the Third Eye. It is also believed to help enable safe and protected trips beyond the physical body into the spiritual realm. It is also said to expand the mind and comprehension... overall a very spiritual stone! Malachite clears and activates the Chakras.
