Ammonites are fossilized Ammonoids, which are an extinct group of marine mollusc animals in the subclass Ammonoidea. Ammonites make excellent index fossils to pinpoint exact geological time periods. The ammonoid cephalopods became extinct along with the dinosaurs at the close of the Cretaceous era.
These sliced Ammonite Fossil pairs originated in Madagascar, and is an incredible example of the Ammonite with its inner chambers polished to a bright shine displaying a light, sandy-brown coloring. These fossils are in excellent condition and would be great for school projects, or just for display!
