Origin: Madagascar

Ammonites are fossilized Ammonoids, which are an extinct group of marine mollusc animals in the subclass Ammonoidea. Ammonites make excellent index fossils to pinpoint exact geological time periods. The ammonoid cephalopods became extinct along with the dinosaurs at the close of the Cretaceous era.

This rough Ammonite fossil is detailed, and is relatively intact. The colour ranges from white to brown, with some rusty hues in between. A portion of the shell has an iridescent glow as pastel Ammulite forms, while other parts have a bit of a shine. This specimen is captivating.

Ammonite is a fascinating fossil to study, and it is believed to carry metaphysical benefits. The spiral shaping is thought to symbolize continual change, and it is believed that because of their great age they have absorbed energy throughout the eons and can be used to stimulate Chi (life-force).
