Aegirine is a mineral that usually forms in dark sheets similar to Tourmaline and is composed of Calcium and Iron or even Aluminum and is part of the inosilicate minerals. It has a hardness of 5 or 6 on the Mohs scale and is generally contained in a matrix of light colored Feldspar and Quartz. Its colors can range from a lighter greenish brown to almost black/green. Aegirine gets it's name from the Norse God of the Sea, Aegir.

This Aegirine is one of our few specimens and is a stunning piece when observed closely. The fibrous streaks appear a simple black until your eyes adjust and the green hue comes to life. Small quartz points can also be seen thriving within the crevasses of the matrix. A perfect addition to the avid collector.

Aegirine is an interesting stone. Not only does it protect from negative energy and psychic attack, but also electrical energy. When worn or kept in close vicinity, it can repel electronic pollution from the self. It can also be helpful to those struggling with addiction or habits that are hard to break, creating a stronger sense of will and need for self-change while helping to relieve negative emotions and depressive feelings.
